A Journey of Doubt

Redeyes traveled along the path to the Moonhollow alone. The light around her was fading to a shallow yellow as the beams of daylight transformed into the shadows of sunset. She had to wait until the light was less harsh enough to travel without cover, but even now she was starting to get fatigued. Without a Medicine Cat, she didn't have the traveling herbs for her journey, and that only deepened the hollow pit in her stomach.

Oh StarClan, am I truly worthy of leading the Clan?I can't even hunt during most of the day, and it may just make me weaker in battle. What if I let my Clan down? She reached the cave leading to the great Moonhollow just as the moon reached it's height in the sky. Sighing, she pushed away her doubt and stepped inside. The cavern was beautiful: it was bathed in the hundred different beams of moonlight, and right at it's center was a small divot that was washed in the strange night light. Redeyes curled into that center and closed her eyes...awaiting the dream from StarClan.

Redstar awoke just as the moon began to fade to dawn. She was more confident now, StarClan's words had been encouraging. She walked toward the exit of the cave and couldn't help but glance at the fading stars. I have my 9 lives now, surely I was meant to be leader. she made her way onto the path leading back to her own territory, just as the light began to fall onto the world.
